Any Way You Want It

With all of the hype about Thanksgiving and the December holidays coming up, I have decided to dedicate today's post about the different food options on campus so that you know what we like and/or where you should go if you ever come visit me (which I hope will be soon!).

Dining Halls: there are two of these on campus, and they are like the typical high school cafeteria on steroids.  But seriously, you can come here almost any time of day and grab yourself breakfast, snacks, lunch, brunch, dinner, and late night on the weekends.  The sandwich bar is always open, along with the grille that cooks burgers and fries to order.  I personally love the stir-fry station that serves up your choice of meat and vegetables over rice or pasta.  There is always a full-functioning fruit and salad bar along with the traditional pizza options that are available each day.  Dessert varies by the day and is always accompanied by frozen yogurt or soft serve ice cream machines.  But the specials of the day are never predictable and vary from chicken tenders and french fries to Middle East platters to make-your-own enchiladas.  There is always something here for you to enjoy!

Food Court: like a mall, we have our own campus food court with a variety of dining options to satisfy anybody.  From Panda Express to Niko's Salad Bar and Mango Manny's Cuban Cuisine, people are always eating here and relaxing in the stress free environment.  And to satisfy the sweet tooth, there's Wendy's frostys, Red Mango frozen yogurt, and Jamba Juice smoothies.

Oasis Cafe: this is a kosher restaurant on campus, much like an Einstein's Bagels, that attracts students for its all-day breakfast options and delicious homemade salads, soups, and sandwiches.  There is also an internet cafe attached with computers so that you can eat while you surf the web or study.

Rathskeller: my personal favorite, this student run restaurant has food options that attract daily customers on weekdays and football fans on the weekend.  For those of legal age, it is the only spot on campus that serves alcohol, but it is also known for its house specialties like barbecue ribs and the chicken caesar pita.  Sometimes you can sit outside on a glider and listen to music while other times it is fun to go on a Sunday and watch every NFL game with friends.

So these are only some of the delicious options that students have to eat on campus.  You can use meal plan swipes at the dining hall that go with your mandatory weekly plan as a freshman or option as an upperclassman, and dining dollars can be used at any other campus location that also takes credit/debit/banking cards.  Starbucks allows you to use any of these modes of payment (excluding meal swipes) and gift cards as well.  It is easily the most crowded food spot on campus at any given time, and we are getting another one with the construction of the new Student Activities Building.

Any way you want it, the food options on campus will satisfy you because hey, we all need food to survive, right?  Right.  And as I am counting down the classes and hours until I go home (which is 4 classes and 2 hours and 25 minutes), I hope that you have a great Monday and are enjoying the last few days of fall.  December is among us, people, and before you know it 2013 will be here!

XOXO
